The Forest of Light Run 2019 | Thetford Forest

An immersive 3k lapped race with feature areas of High Lodge in Thetford lit in beautiful colours. We also created a focal start/finish line for the racers using smoke jets and moving effect lighting.

Just how do you light up a forest?

The team at Inspire Races contacted us about illuminating their first ever “light” race. As an already established race company, the only bit the guys were unsure about was how to light the course, that’s where we came in!

We met at Thetford and walked the course whilst discussing different options for lighting the course. As there was no power around the course, we needed to use battery solutions.

What we provided

A stage for the warm-up act
Coloured festoons lining the entrance to the course
White festoons around the finish and registration area
Lit 3 zones around the course using professional battery light units
Created a feature of large coloured trees at the end of the course
A truss bridge up and over the course with colour wash and moving search beam lights
Vertical smoke jets

Facts

50 lighting fixtures used
Over 10 kilometres walked by our crew
750 runners saw our lighting installations
600 bananas eaten by the runners!
